Family Discipleship

Equipping parents to lead, love and disciple their children.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

It’s a familiar question. One that we were all asked many times when we were young, and one that we ask many times to the children God has put in our lives.

A firefighter? Doctor? Teacher? Construction worker? All viable answers. But I wonder if there’s a bigger question we should be asking.

“What does God want you to be when you grow up?”

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 is probably one of the most quoted Scripture references when speaking of how to train your children to become everything God wants them to be. “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

70
Percent of Children Leave the Church at Age 18

Current statistics highlight the need for this more than ever. Numerous secular and Christian-based Studies are all pointing to the same thing . . . almost 7 out of 10 children raised in evangelical Christian churches are leaving the faith by their first year out of high school.

Now more than ever, the intentional discipleship of our children should be one of our most critical focuses as parents.

At Journey we believe that parents bear the most influence and biggest responsibility when discipling their children. As a church we are committed to getting along side parents and equipping them for this most important role!
